Based on Criminal Justice, a 2008 British series, The Night Of on HBO Max is a crime drama set in New York City. A shy Pakistani-American student, Nasir “Naz” Khan (Riz Ahmed), spends the night with a woman he picked up the evening before but awakens to find her stabbed to death. Accused of murdering the girl, Khan asks for a lawyer, and a jaded defense attorney John Stone (John Turturro) steps in to represent him. The series follows the legal proceedings of the case and Khan’s difficult days at Rikers Island.
