Based on the 2018 feature film Skate Kitchen, Betty on HBO Max is a teen comedy series that follows the lives of a motley group of female skateboarders in New York City. When best friends Kirt and Janay organize an “all-girls skate sesh” in NYC’s Lower East Side, they meet and befriend three other girl skaters. Season two of the series shows the girls navigating not just the predominantly male-oriented world of skateboarding but also the post-pandemic life.
