What Are the Critics Saying about See?

Both existing seasons of See have experienced widely different ratings from critics. On one hand, the first season only scored a meager 44% positive rating — based on 52 reviews — after being panned by many critics. However, the second season stands at a whopping 83% (based on six reviews).

The majority of the critics’ reviews for the first season panned the over-reliance of the show on excessive gore and violence instead of making efforts to iron out the kinks in its complicated storyline. But despite its flaws, critics noted that the series does have its undeniable merits, with 3AW’s Jim Schembri noting that “as a piece of throwaway fantasy escapism, See offers a diverting off-road adventure.”

“Though Apple TV+’s See started off on rocky footing, I guarantee you’ll be swept away by the series if you give it a chance,” writes Karen Rought of Hypable.

In their review for the second season, James Dyer of Empire Magazine points out how it is “not be the most accessible of shows, and its penchant for the bizarre is occasionally goofy.” However, he also added that the series “boasts a rich tapestry of world-building and an expanding story with real emotional punch.”

While critics have not been big on praising See, the series has been a clear winner in terms of audience rating. Both seasons have received a glowing positive rating of 84% (based on 1302 reviews) and 87% (based on 179 reviews).

Is See Suitable for Kids?

As the presence of violence, sex, and nudity is palpable throughout the first two seasons, See has been granted a TV-MA rating. According to the rating, the show is only intended for mature audiences i.e., it is not a suitable watch for children under the age of 17.
