According to Variety, Amanda Peet (Jack & Jill, Dirty John) has officially signed on to star opposite Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson in Paramount+’s Fatal Attraction series. Peet is set to portray the role of Beth Gallagher, a character previously portrayed by Anne Archer in the 1987 film.
She is described as a loyal wife, loving mother, and successful small business owner whose world unravels when her husband Dan’s indiscretion threatens to destroy their life together.

The Fatal Attraction series will be written and executive produced by Dirty John‘s Alexandra Cunningham, who will also be serving as the showrunner. Kevin J. Hynes, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey are set to executive produce.
“A deep-dive reimagining of the classic psychosexual thriller and ’80s cultural touchstone, the new series will explore fatal attraction and the timeless themes of marriage and infidelity, through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders, and coercive control,” reads the synopsis. “Caplan stars as a woman who becomes obsessed with her lover after a brief affair.”

The original film was directed by Adrian Lyne and was based on the 1980 short film Diversion. It starred Michael Douglas, Glenn Close, and Anne Archer. The 1987 film wasn’t only a box office success, but also earned critical acclaim with six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Close, and Best Supporting Actress for Archer.
