Data from Netflix’s newly released Top 10 rankings shows that Season 4 of the series was a massive hit, having been viewed for more than 287 million hours during the week of May 23-30. That’s not only good enough for the top spot of the week for Netflix, but it’s also more than enough to break the record for the streaming platform’s biggest-ever premiere weekend for an English-language series, which was previously held by Season 2 of Bridgerton (193m hours).
This also marks the first season of Stranger Things to reach the #1 spot in 83 countries, with the series reaching into the top 10 most-watched things for the week in all 93 countries that Netflix collects data from. Besides Season 4, Stranger Things as a whole has been boosted on the platform, with Seasons 1-3 of the original series all landing in the weekly Top 10 for English-language series as a result of Season 4’s popularity.
The series currently stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, and Brett Gelman.
Season 4 also introduces a number of new characters including Nightmare on Elm Street star Robert Englund as Victor Creel, Jamie Campbell Bower as Peter Ballard, Eduardo Franco as Argyle, Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson, Sherman Augustus as Lt. Colonel Sullivan, Mason Dye as Jason Carver, Nikola Djuricko as Yuri, Tom Wlaschiha as Dmitri, Myles Truitt as Patrick, Regina Ting Chen as Ms. Kelly, and Grace Van Dien as Chrissy. Anne with an E star Amybeth McNulty has also been cast for the key role of Vickie.
