Tony Shalhoub Joins the Cast of Nurse Jackie

Having just voiced Splinter in Paramount Pictures’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Emmy Award-winner Tony Shalhoub (“Monk”) is set to join Emmy-winning actress Edie Falco on “Nurse Jackie,” the Showtime comedy about a flawed emergency room nurse. Shalhoub will play the recurring role of Dr. Bernard Prince, a new ER doctor who has a great bedside manner, a special touch with his boss, Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith), and who offers Jackie something she desperately needs – a friend.

“Nurse Jackie” also stars Merritt Wever, Dominic Fumusa, Paul Schulze, Betty Gilpin, Ruby Jerins, Stephen Wallem, Mackenzie Aladjem and Peter Facinelli. Clyde Phillips serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tom Straw, Richie Jackson, Liz Flahive and Caryn Mandabach also executive produce. The series is a co-production between Showtime and Lionsgate.

Best known to television audiences as the obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk, a role which earned him four straight Emmy nominations and three wins, Shalhoub has been starring in hit television and movie projects for years, including the long-running sitcom “Wings,” and both Men in Black and Men in Black II.

Other film appearances include Stanley Tucci’s hit Big Night, Made Up, Barton Fink and Cars and Cars II. Shalhoub also has an extensive list of credits and accolades on Broadway, including Tony Award nominations for “Act One,” “Golden Boy,” “Lend Me a Tenor,” “Conversations with My Father,” “The Heidi Chronicles” and “The Odd Couple.”
