The report notes that Tate Taylor (The Help) is set to write the script for the television drama, which has reportedly begun being pitched to various A-list talent ahead of a production start later this summer. No official plot details or ideas for how the reboot would occur have been discussed yet, though, so things are still relatively unknown as of now.

The Prince of Tides was originally released in 1991, and starred Nick Nolte and Barbara Streisand, with Streisand also directing the film and serving as a producer. The film is an adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name, written by Pat Conroy, who also wrote the screenplay for the film.

At the time of its launch, the film was praised, both by critics and fans alike. The film would go on to relative success at the box office, and would also be nominated for various awards, with seven Academy Awards nominations — including Best Picture — although the film did not take home any wins.
