“You’ll get it soon,” Esposito said. “You’ll get it soon. I got a little few things to do in regards to that, to put some finishing touches on what I do, but I believe it will be sometime this summer. No date set yet, but coming soon.”

Esposito also spoke about how he was originally approached with the role, with director Jon Favreau calling him up to ask him to appear in the show as Moff Gideon. “I have nothing but great things to say about this studio, about this franchise, in regard to how they have enlightened our children to mythology, and to what’s right, and how to go about doing what’s right,” Esposito said, before joking that he had one requirement before taking on the role.

“I’ve got one caveat, Jon,” said Esposito. “He’s like ‘Oh, what’s that?’ I said, ‘I must have a cape.'”

The Mandalorian recently wrapped production on its third season, which is set to continue the adventures of Din Djarin (Pablo Pascal), a Mandalorian warrior. Pascal’s character also recently appeared throughout the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett.

The Star Wars series is being led by Pedro Pascal as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. Before the new season, Pascal’s Din Djarin previously appeared in last year’s The Book of Boba Fett spin-off. As of now, Carl Weathers and Gian Carlo Esposito are the only returning cast members confirmed for the third season. Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd has also joined the upcoming new season for a guest-starring role.

The Mandalorian hails from executive producers Favreau, Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. Favreau is also set as the showrunner and one of its directors.
