Bailey and Barnes are set to direct the series, with Coogler and Proximity Media — his production house — set to executive produce the project. With Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) set to debut in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, this will allow Coogler to help continue to plan out her storyline as she becomes a bigger player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thorne’s Riri Williams is described as “a brilliant teenager who, in the comics, built her own version of the Iron Man suit in an MIT dorm.” In the comics, she sometimes takes over for Tony Stark as Iron Man. The character the series is based on was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato, and first debuted in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 #7 in 2016.
Thorne will first see her character arrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the highly anticipated sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
