While the upcoming Disney+ series was conceived as a limited series, don’t rule out the possibility of Ewan McGregor coming back for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2.

In an interview with EW, director Deborah Chow explained that Obi-Wan Kenobi is a limited series first and foremost as it is “one big story with a beginning, middle, and end.” Chow also dashed any concerns as it was always conceived as one full story and that’s what the six episodes achieve. However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy says a second season is possible if they can figure out a good reason to do one.
“It’s certainly something we talk about,” Kennedy explained when asked about a possible Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. “Mainly because everybody came together and had such an incredible time. Ewan had an incredible time. Hayden had an incredible time. So certainly from that point of view, everybody involved would love to see this not end. But we have to really spend our time asking the question: Why would we do it? If we were to decide to do anything more with the Obi-Wan character, we’d have to really answer the question why?”
The limited series is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold. The series is directed by Deborah Chow and written by Joby Harold.
