Donald Glover’s Atlanta will officially come to an end after its fourth season, according to FX CEO John Landgraf.

The announcement came during his speech at the Television Critics Association’s virtual winter press tour (via Variety), where he confirmed that the fourth season would be its last. According to Landgraf, Glover and the Atlanta team have already finished filming both the third and fourth season of the series. The third season of the fan-favorite television series will debut on March 24, 2022, with the fourth season set to arrive sometime in the fall.
The move to finish the series coincides with Glover’s overall deal with FX coming to an end. Glover currently has a deal with Amazon and is working on a television adaptation of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith for the company’s Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
Atlanta tells the story of two cousins who work through the Atlanta music scene in order to better their lives and the lives of their families. While mainly played straight, the show sometimes dips into the surreal between its comedic and dramatic bits.
The third season “follows Earn (Donald Glover), Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour, as the group navigates their new surroundings as outsiders and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to,” reads the outlet’s synopsis.
