Although Boba Fett is one of the most memorable and beloved characters in Star Wars history, not too much about the bounty hunter is known. However, the upcoming Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett hopes to change that. Speaking to SFX magazine (via CBR), Temuera Morrison, who plays Boba Fett in the upcoming series and played him in The Mandalorian, confirmed that the show will look to answer some of the questions surrounding the character’s backstory.
“There will definitely be a number of answers,” Morrison said. “Some long-winded answers. Some short and sharp answers. Some colorful answers. We’re filling a lot of gaps.”
Boba Fett’s history is a bit of a complicated one, as his backstory wasn’t mentioned at all until Star Wars began expanding with the Extended Universe via books and other forms of media. However, Disney’s acquisition of the franchise erased most of that, leaving new stories to tell regarding the bounty hunter.

The series will be executive produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who are reportedly trying to adopt Marvel Studios’ successful MCU format.
“The series is described as a thrilling Star Wars adventure,” reads the logline. “It finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.
The Mandalorian spin-off is executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck, with John Bartnicki, and John Hampian set as producers.

Lucasfilm had previously attempted to produce Boba Fett spinoffs before the character appeared in The Mandalorian. However, none of the planned spinoffs took off and made it to production. This includes a live-action TV series from George Lucas and a Boba-centric film from Fantastic Four director Josh Trank, which both didn’t move forward with their productions.
