Emilio Estevez Will Not Return for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Season 2

The Mighty Ducks franchise star Emilio Estevez will not be returning for Season 2 of Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, according to Deadline. The outlet is reporting that producer ABC Signature elected not to pick up the actor’s option for the second season “after weeks of back and forth with his team over the show’s Covid vaccination requirement.”

Similar to many other productions, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers currently has a mandatory vaccination policy for the cast and crew in Zone A, which includes all actors and the crew members who come in direct content with them. Deadline writes that sources revealed Estevez “has declined to provide assurances that he would comply with the policy.” Additional sources reportedly shared that creative differences could have played a part in the actor exiting the series.

The series is set in present-day Minnesota, where the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team.

Based on the 1992 sports comedy-drama film, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers stars Brady Noon, Lauren Graham, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts.
