The first episode title of Netflix’s One Piece live-action series adaptation has been revealed by the show’s official Twitter account. Episode 1.01 of the series is officially titled “Romance Dawn,” written by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda. Along with the image of the script, the Twitter caption reads: “No matter how hard or how impossible it is, never lose sight of your goal.”

According to IGN, the title of the premiere episode might be hinting at the origin of One Piece, as Romance Dawn was initially published as a one-shot by creator Eiichiro Oda (apparently not called One Piece when it was first published, but later “adopted” as the origin of the manga) “in the Shonen Jump 1996 Summer Special.” It was also the first arc in the anime series.
The manga, written and illustrated by Oda, follows Monkey D. Luffy, the leader of a pirate crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, who gains the powers to turn his body into rubber after eating a “Devil Fruit,” and who ventures around a fantastical world of exotic islands and vast oceans in search of the legendary treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.
The series will be written by Steven Maeda (The X-Files), who will also act as showrunner and executive producer, along with writer Matt Owens (Agents of SHIELD) who is executive producing as well. They are joined by Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios (Snowpiercer, Cowboy Bebop), who will also executive produce the series alongside original author Oda. A cast for the live-action series has not yet been announced.

The manga spawned a media franchise that includes multiple animated films, an anime series that has run for 20 seasons and is currently ongoing, numerous video games, and even themed restaurants and theme park attractions in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
