MTV Entertainment Studios has announced that Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest (Let Them All Talk, I Care A Lot) has been tapped to co-star alongside previously cast MCU alum Jeremy Renner in the highly anticipated drama Mayor of Kingstown, exclusively for Paramount+. The new series from Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan, the co-creator of Yellowstone, cable’s most-watched show of 2020, was announced in last month’s ViacomCBS Streaming Event and added prolific director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) as an executive producer.

Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family – power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
Wiest will play Miriam, the McLusky family matriarch who teaches at the Kingstown Women’s Prison.
