The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to Tie Into Multiple MCU Projects

Ahead of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s highly-anticipated premiere this Friday, the possibility of the Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan-led series having a second season has been the subject of speculations lately due to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige’s previous statement about the development of some multi-season shows. Now, in a recent interview with EW, Feige has again addressed this with a very intriguing response. He revealed that it’s difficult to give a definite answer about the future of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier because it would enter “the spoiler realm.”

“We have a future charted for characters post-Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but I don’t want to say much more than that,” Feige teased.

In addition, head writer Malcolm Spellman also teased the importance of the upcoming show to the MCU Phase 4 by confirming that, just like WandaVision‘s connection to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the events from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also directly tie into multiple Marvel Studios projects. He understandably wasn’t able to name the other projects that would connect to the show but he did reveal that he “can think of three that I’m not allowed to talk about.”

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Civil War) as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame, team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities–and their patience.

Joining them are MCU veterans Daniel Bruhl and Emily VanCamp, who are set to return as Helmut Zemo and Sharon Carter, respectively. Neither character has appeared onscreen since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes, aka War Machine, is also set to appear.

During the Marvel Studios panel at D23 Expo 2019, it was revealed that Wyatt Russell (Lodge 49, Black Mirror) has joined the series for the role of Marvel Comics character John Walker/ U.S. Agent. Miki Ishikawa (The Terror: Infamy), Desmond Chiam (Now Apocalypse), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep, Supergirl), Noah Mills (The Enemy Within) and Danny Ramirez have also been cast for the series.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a six-episode series that is directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer. John Wick creator Derek Kolstad has also joined the series’ writing/creative team.
