Martin Lawrence & Snoop Dogg to Lead Political Drama Series

After reuniting with the producer for the long-awaited Bad Boys for Life, Martin Lawrence is partnering up with Jerry Bruckheimer for a new political drama series entitled Game, which Lawrence will star in alongside Snoop Dogg (The Beach Bum), according to Deadline.

Based on a story developed by Lawrence, Dogg and Patrick Aison (Treadstone), the series will be set in Washington, D.C. and will center on lifelong best friends Bobby and Dice as they run a high-stakes game of personal favors and political intrigue in the nation’s capital.

Aison, who is scripting the pilot, will executive produce the series alongside Lawrence, Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Dogg, his producing partner Ted Chung and Bruckheimer via his Jerry Bruckheimer TV banner, with Sean Lampkin and James Oh attached to produce with CBS TV Studios. Though the project is in development at CBS TV Studios, it is currently being prepped to hit the marketplace to find a network or streaming platform home.

Despite both having over 30 years of on-screen credits in their careers and being longtime friends in real life, Lawrence and Dogg wouldn’t appear in a project together until 2019’s stoner dramedy The Beach Bum led by Matthew McConaughey, which received mixed reviews from critics and was a modest box office success.

Game will mark Lawrence’s first major TV role since the short-lived FX comedy Partners, which was cancelled after one season and also initially marked his return to television after his eponymous Fox sitcom that ran for five seasons from 1992-1997. It will also mark the fourth collaboration between the 55-year-old actor/comedian and Bruckheimer after having starred in the first three Bad Boys movies, including this year’s hit threequel, and is set to return for the fourth film currently in development.
