Titans is about to get a lot bigger as it was revealed during DC FanDome (via IGN) that the popular superhero drama will introduce none other than Red Hood, Barbara Gordon, and Scarecrow into its universe.
Yup, that means Curran Walters will reprise his role as Jason Todd and don the famous Red Hood costume, which means we could get an episode or two revolving around his torture at the hands of the Joker. The series nearly killed the character off in Season 2, but decided to let him continue on as Robin.
The news revolving around Barbara Gordon has been known for some time now and while no casting announcement was made, we do know that this iteration of the character will have already given up the mantle of Batgirl; and is currently pursuing the opportunity to replace her father as Commissioner.
Similarly, the role of Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow, has yet to be cast though it was revealed the character will be featured as an Arkham Asylum inmate who is consulting on difficult cases, ala Hannibal Lecter.
Finally, it was also revealed that Season 3 will feature more of the rivalry between Starfire and her sister Blackfire and that Damaris Lewis has landed a regular role in the series.
The only thing we didn’t get from the panel was a release date, which could be a long way off considering the show hasn’t even finalized some crucial roles. In any case, Titans: Season 3 sounds like it will be a lot of fun!
Titans stars Brenton Thwaites (Gods of Egypt) as Dick Grayson/Robin, Teagan Croft (Home and Away) as Raven, Anna Diop (24: Legacy) as Koriand’r/Starfire, Alan Ritchson (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) & Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) as Hawk and Dove, Bruno Bichir as Dr. Niles Caulder, and Lindsey Gort as Police Detective Amy Rohrbach.
