Deadline is reporting that “The Game” actress Candice Patton has been cast as Iris West in The CW’s upcoming “Arrow” spin-off “The Flash.” The series seems to be taking the character in a different direction from the source material as the character is described as Barry Allen’s best friend and not a love interest, though that is always subject to change.
Patton joins a cast that already includes Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Jesse L. Martin as Iris’s father Detective West, Rick Gosnett as Central City Police Detective Eddie Thawne and Danielle Panabaker as S.T.A.R. Labs bioengineer Caitlin Snow.
“The Flash” arrives from co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg who, along with Geoff Johns, will write the pilot episode with “Arrow” pilot director David Nutter at the helm.
