Rodeo Queens: Dakota Johnson to star in Amazon’s new Mockumentary series
In competitive bidding among multiple networks and streamers, Variety reports that Amazon Studios has successfully landed the rights to Christy Hall’s upcoming mockumentary comedy series titled Rodeo Queens with The Peanut Butter Falcon star Dakota Johnson attached for the leading role. This marks Johnson’s first major TV comeback after seven years since starring in Fox’s sitcom Ben and Kate which ran on-air from 2012-2013.

The mockumentary-style series is being described as a story that follows an ensemble of Rodeo Queen hopefuls as they compete for the coveted crown. The series’ writers’ room is expected to begin soon.
Rodeo Queens is created by Christy Hall (I Am Not Okay With This), who is also set as the showrunner. The series will be executive produced by Hall, Elisa Ellis and Carrie Brownstein, who will serve as the director. On top of starring, Johnson has also signed on to executive produce through her Teatime Pictures along with Ro Donelly. It will be a co-production by Amazon Studios and Platform One Media.

Johnson is best known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the hit Fifty Shades trilogy. Her other notable film credits include: 21 Jump Street, A Bigger Splash, Suspiria, Bad Times at the El Royale, and Wounds. She most recently starred in Focus Features’ The High Note opposite Tracee Ellis Ross and Kelvin Harrison Jr. which currently available on all digital platforms.
