Over the weekend, DC Entertainment quickly pulled the first teaser for Stargirl. However, that may have been done just to give The CW a chance to premiere the first Stargirl trailer during Crisis on Infinite Earths.
The new trailer sheds some additional light on Stargirl‘s origin story. In this show, Joel McHale’s Sylvester Pemberton was Starman, and not the Star-Spangled Kid/Skyman as he was in the comic. Luke Wilson’s Pat Dugan was also Sylvester’s partner/sidekick, and he apparently witnessed the death of Starman.
Brec Bassinger stars in the series as Pat’s stepdaughter, Courtney Whitmore. She’s the one who discovers Starman’s cosmic staff packed away with her stepfather’s belongings. And when the staff calls to her, Courtney reinvents herself as a superheroine and becomes Stargirl.

Additionally, Lou Ferrigno, Jr., Brain Stapf, and Henry Thomas will recur on the series as Justice Society members Hourman, Wildcat, and Doctor Mid-Nite. However, the Stargirl teaser hinted that the series will also introduce a new generation of heroes, as played by Trae Romano, Anjelika Washington, and Yvette Monreal.
Stargirl will premiere on The CW and DC Universe in Spring 2020.
