Fresh Off the Boat’s Nahnatchka Khan Gets ABC Pilot for Valley Trash

According to Deadline, ABC has given the go-ahead to Valley Trash, a single-camera family comedy to be produced by Niki Schwartz-Wright (Speechless), Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat) and Universal TV.

Per the report, the plot follows 14-year old Abby, whose family experiences an extreme case of culture shock when she is accepted into a prestigious university and must contend with a “bunch of brilliant, snobby, rich kids who want nothing to do with her, her family or their 818 area code.”

Schwartz-Wright will write the pilot and serve as executive producer alongside Khan.

Schwartz-Wright and Khan have put together a nice package of shows. The former co-executive produced the NBC comedy series Abby, as well as the first two seasons of Speechless. The latter is the creator and executive producer of the ABC comedy Fresh Off the Boat, and directed Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe.
