Variety is reporting that V.E. Schwab’s novel The Archived is being adapted into a drama series at The CW from Jane the Virgin writer Liz Sczudlo and Jane the Virgin creator and showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman.

In the series, the eldest child in a family of ghost hunters, Bex has trained her entire life for the day she’ll take up the mantle of “the chosen one.” But when her dad dies and her local-weather-girl sister wakes up with the familial powers instead, these night-and-day sisters will have to figure out how to work together and save the world.
Schwab clarified on Twitter that The Archived novel “is about a library of the dead, and the people hired to hunt down and capture the restless souls who wake and try to escape.”
Victoria Elizabeth Schwab’s Archived book series consists of two novels, The Archived and The Unbound, along with the short story Leave the Window Open, which was published in 2015.

Sczudlo (Switched at Birth, Reign, The Following) will write and executive produce the series for The CW. Urman (Broke) will serve as executive producer alongside Joanna Klein through their Sutton St. Productions banner. Sutton St. Productions is currently under an overall deal with CBS Television Studios, who will produce the series.
