Comic book creator Brian K. Vaughan took to Instagram to share a short update on the FX adaptation of Y: The Last Man, assuring fans that despite the recent changes in the show’s management, Y is still on track for its scheduled debut in 2020.
“The show must go on! Sorry for two Hollywood sellout posts in one day, but I just got back from the writers’ room for Y (still coming to FX in 2020!), and I’m very pleased to say the series is in excellent hands with new showrunner Eliza Clark and her intimidating squad of all-stars. TV is g****mn hard, and if the last 17 years have taught co-creator Pia Guerra and me anything, it’s that our story is particularly challenging to adapt, so I’m very grateful to everyone who’s helped get Yorick & Co. this far, especially Michael Green and Aïda Croal. Anyway, stay tuned, very good (monkey) sh*t coming your way soon.”
Based on Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s graphic novels of the same name, Y will be set in a post-apocalyptic world wherein a cataclysmic event has killed every male mammal save for one lone human. It will traverse a world of women — exploring gender, race, class, and survival.

Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk) will star in the series as Yorick Brown, an escape artist who becomes the only surviving man after a catastrophic plague wipes out the rest of the human males. Yorick and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, find themselves in a greatly changed world that is now dominated by women.
