Golden Globe winner Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue) has joined NBC’s legal drama pilot Bluff City Law in one of the lead roles, Variety has confirmed.

Smits will star alongside the previously announced Caitlin McGee (Winter Slides). Smits is set to play legendary lawyer Elijah Straight with McGee portraying his brilliant daughter.
Smits has starred in numerous television shows over the years, including Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, The Get Down, NYPD Blue, LA Law, The West Wing, 24: Legacy, and How to Get Away with Murder. His movie credits include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith as Bail Organa.
Written by Georgaris, Bluff City Law is a character-driven legal drama that follows the lawyers of an elite Memphis law firm that specializes in the most controversial landmark civil rights cases. Led by legendary lawyer Elijah Strait and his brilliant daughter, Sydney Keller, they take on the toughest David-and-Goliath cases while navigating their complicated relationship.
