He’s fought zombies, intergalactic gods, kaiju and the Starfleet Academy, but Idris Elba is now going up against one of the toughest foes he will ever face in his career: the New York City audience of Saturday Night Live.

The 46-year-old English actor, well-known for his work in the Pacific Rim franchise, Marvel Cinematic Universe, the acclaimed HBO drama The Wire and the long-running BBC crime drama Luther, will be making his hosting debut for SNL alongside the debut of Khalid.

Elba has a lot of upcoming work on his plate with the long-awaited release of his directorial debut Yardie set for a March 15 release alongside the premiere of his Netflix comedy series Turn Up Charlie, while also set to star as the villain in the upcoming Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw alongside Dwayne Johnson (Fighting with My Family) and Jason Statham (The Meg), which is slated for an August 2 release, as well as the film adaptation of the classic Broadway play Cats, which is set for a December 20 release.
