According to Variety, Hulu has successfully acquired the US distribution rights to ITV’s British family drama Butterfly starring Golden Globe-nominated actress Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies, Marcella) portraying the role of Vicky Duffy. The series is scheduled to be released next year on January 18 on Hulu.

Butterfly is a three-part drama that follows the story of Vicky and Stephen, separated parents who disagree over on how to deal with their youngest child, Max, who was born a boy but identifies as a girl. The series was created and written by BAFTA winner Tony Merchant.

The cast also includes Callum Booth-Ford as Max Duffy, Emmett J. Scanlon (Hollyoaks) as Stephen Duffy, Alison Steadman (Life is Sweet) as Barbara Pannell, Amy Huberman as Gemma Hulton and Sean McGinley as Peter Duffy.
Studiocanal’s Red Production Company co-produced the series together with AENON. The show had its debut in the UK last October 14, 2018.
