Sony’s upcoming drama series Alex Rider has found a director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andreas Prochaska (Das Boot) has signed on to direct the series, as well as serve as executive producer. Sony Pictures Television and Eleventh Hour Films are bankrolling the project.
The series is based on Anthony Horowitz’s run of young adult novels, which chronicles the rise of a young, reluctant teenage spy. Prochaska will direct the first four installments of the series, based on the Point Blanc, the second novel in the long-running series. Guy Burt (Harriet’s Army) will write the script.
“Within the first few pages of reading Guy Burt’s compelling scripts for the series I was hooked,” said Prochaska. “Guy has taken Anthony’s brilliant, well-loved character and created a bold and unique concept, a coming-of-age story set in the clandestine world of spies sure to excite fans and newcomers alike.”

Prochaska’s most recent work, Das Boot, is an eight-part series based on Wolfgang Peterson’s 1981 war-time submarine epic. It’s slated to begin its stateside run on Hulu this month.
