Las Vegas: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review: James Caan & Josh Duhamel Shine

NBC’s Las Vegas ran for five seasons from 2003 to 2008. Starring James Caan and Josh Duhamel (and then Tom Selleck replacing Caan as the lead for the final season), the show focuses on the drama that comes with operating a casino. It was a lot of fun, helping make Duhamel a star, and features some ridiculous moments and drama that can be highly enjoyed if you allow yourself to not take everything so seriously.

“What happens in Vegas is now better than ever. Las Vegas: The Complete Series is packed with audio commentary, gag reels, and additional bonus. Join the action-packed escapades at the Montecito Hotel and Casino with an elite Las Vegas surveillance team, led by commanding Big Ed Deline (James Caan) and his slick, good-looking righthand man, Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel). They’re out to catch card-counting cheaters, costly streaks of random luck and the schemes of rival casinos. Enjoy all 106 episodes of Las Vegas with special guest stars Sylvester Stallone, Alec Baldwin, Jill Hennessy, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Rodman and more!”

Las Vegas is certainly a guilty pleasure of mine. The above video is one of the funniest television deaths ever and shows just how wild the show was willing to get. The first four seasons are particularly fun, as the Tom Selleck-led final season never found its groove, but I enjoyed each of them. Duhamel wound up being the show’s biggest star, and the show had a number of great guest appearances, such as Sylvester Stallone, Little Richard, Alec Baldwin, Jewel, and more. The final season also features a Magnum, P.I. reunion, which is a fun moment.

There’s a good amount of special features throughout the five seasons. These include a mini-movie called Rumble in the Montecito featuring Jon Bon Jovi and John Elway, some backstage featurettes, a look at the city, gag reels, and more.

The Las Vegas: The Complete Series set comes with a case that houses five separate Blu-ray packages — one for each season. I love this type of set as it allows you to easily switch from season to season and avoid a monstrosity that houses all of the discs in one set. It’s extremely consumer-friendly, and all of the seasons have the same styled packaging, so OCD buyers won’t be annoyed either.

Las Vegas: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review: Final Verdict

While Las Vegas isn’t a classic television show, it remains a highly bingeable and fun watch. Whether you’re revisiting it or checking it out for the first time, the Las Vegas: The Complete Series Blu-ray set is a guaranteed good time.
