The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Finale Post Credits Scene Explained

On Thursday, August 8, The Umbrella Academy returned for the fourth and final time, concluding the story it began telling back in 2019. The show is based on the namesake comic book series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. Like other graphic-novel-inspired projects, The Umbrella Academy Season 4 has a post-credits scene, providing additional information about the narrative of the concluding chapter of the popular Netflix series.

So, here is everything you need to know about The Umbrella Academy post-credits scene as well as what it means.

How many end credits scenes are there in The Umbrella Academy Season 4?

Initially, the credits roll with cast photos and snapshots of behind-the-scenes moments. However, The Umbrella Academy Season 4 does have one traditional postcredits scene.

In the series finale, the Hargreeves siblings take on one of their own as the marigold particle inside Ben and the durango particle inside Jennifer combine. It creates a timeline-ending entity called the Cleanse. Soon, Five realizes that he and his siblings are the real problem, the root causes of all the apocalypses.

Hence, Five later convinces Lila, who has the marigold particle within her like the Hargreeves siblings, to stay behind. However, she sends her family, her children with Diego, and Allison’s daughter Claire to a different and more peaceful timeline. The siblings and Lila ultimately sacrifice themselves as the Cleanse destroys their world. In the final scene of The Umbrella Academy finale, we see people enjoying a sunny day at a park. As Claire and Lila’s children and family are there, we can presume that this is the timeline they ended up in.

The Umbrella Academy end credits scene takes place in the picturesque park of the original timeline. The camera pans to eight marigold flowers as they bloom underneath a tree.

The meaning of eight flowers in The Umbrella Academy Season 4 post credits scene

The marigold flowers in the post-credits scene of The Umbrella Academy represent the siblings: Viktor, Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, and Five, and Ben.

As there are eight flowers, the last one most likely represents Lila, or perhaps Jennifer. As mentioned above, Lila had the marigold particle in her. So, it makes sense for the blooming flower to represent her. Alternatively, it can also be Jennifer because of her connection to Ben. The scene implies that even though these individuals are dead, the essence of them still remains.
