The Mandalorian “Chapter 20: The Foundling” saw the return of Ahmed Best to the Star Wars Universe.
The latest chapter of Din Djarin and Grogu’s adventures featured an interesting flashback showing what happened to Grogu during the night when Order 66 was executed. As fans already know, Grogu survived the Great Jedi Purge, but it was unknown how he survived that catastrophic event until now. Well, the merit goes to Kelleran Beq, a member of the Jedi Order who saved Grogu from the clones.
Who’s Portraying Kelleran Beq in The Mandalorian
Star Wars veteran Ahmed Best portrays Kelleran Beq in The Mandalorian. Best played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, a character known for his clumsy and bumbling nature. Binks is a Gungan from Naboo with a distinctive, exaggerated speech. In the prequel trilogy, Best provided motion capture and the voice of Binks. The character received mixed reactions from the fans since his first appearance in The Phantom Menace, with Best being the victim of the fans’ backlash.
After taking a break from the franchise, Best returned as the host of 2020’s Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, a children’s game show that first aired on Disney+. In the show, young contestants competed in a series of challenges designed to test their strength, knowledge, and agility in a Jedi Temple. The challenges involved tasks such as solving puzzles, traversing obstacle courses, and dueling with lightsabers.
Best also introduced a new, live-action character in Beq, a Jedi who served as a Dean of the Jedi Temple and trained Padawans to pass their Jedi trials. Nicknamed “The Sabered Hand,” Beq also flew aboard the starship Athylia, a Jedi training facility.
In The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 4, Beq appeared at the very last moment to save Grogu from the clones. While Beq typically wields a purple lightsaber, which is an homage to Mace Windu, “Chapter 20” showed Beq using a green one before he picked up a blue one too. Beq and Grogu outran the close before escaping from Coruscant and surviving the Siege of the Jedi Temple following Order 66.
