Daniel LaRusso must do whatever it takes to stop Terry Silver from taking over the valley. In an interview released ahead of the Cobra Kai Season 5 release, Ralph Macchio talked about the moments he liked the most in the new season. As expected, one of them involved Mr. Miyagi.

“I have two, one’s comedic and one’s dramatic,” said Macchio of his favorite moments. “I mean, there are plenty of scenes that I’m not in that are some of my favorites, but as far as the ones that I’m in, I love in Episode 10 being pulled out of the limo, with Mike Barnes and Johnny meeting, Barnes and Chozen meeting Barnes and them all going to storm the castle and Daniel LaRusso being very much like Ed Helms in The Hangover, trying to be the voice of reason and left out on his own. I love that stuff. I felt comedically at one with Cobra Kai in the Cobra Kai tone. It was one of my favorite moments.
“[The other is] the end of Episode 6, walking into Miyagi’s old room at the house and the emotions that are there and that scene with Amanda and then the kids coming in and everyone sort of rallying behind Daniel LaRusso and feeling him that maybe not so young, but sort of that hero protagonist that he once was back in the original movie. It was a nice mirroring of that moment.”

“Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town,” reads the synopsis. “With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.”
