In the previous episode of Netflix’s The Letter for the King, Tiuri promised the Black Knight that he would deliver an intercepted letter from Prince Viridian to King Favian, and the Red Riders and the other squires hunted him down. In The Letter for the King Season 1 Episode 3, King Favian divulged his plan for the Queen of Dagonaut, and in The Letter for the King Season 1 Episode 4, Tiuri and Lavinia met a follower of Eviellan magic.
Monastery
A group of monks took in Tiuri and Lavinia as the cold of the mountains slowed them down. The head monk, Abbot, told them that he took in people to try to reform them. Tiuri revealed to him that he had visions. Lavinia wasn’t so trusting. Brother William warned of something coming. Tiuri stopped an attack on him, unknowingly using forceful magic.
Also in the mountains, the Red Riders escorted the squires. Iona tried to endear herself to Jaro. The Red Riders let the squires walk ahead of them to test the stability of the snow, and they caused an avalanche. After a fight between Iona and Jaro, the Red Riders left them for dead, but the squires had survived.
Kinglet
King Favian had sent a kinglet bird to Prince Viridian. Virdian explained that it referred to a childhood nickname. Viridian crushed the bird in his hand and magically revived it. He sent the courier back to his father with his sword. Jabroot the Scout returned with news that an Eviellan Shaman’s wife and son were still alive. Virdian gave orders to find them.
In Dagonaut, Queen Alianor visited Tiuri’s mother in the dungeon. She warned the Queen. King Favian arrived and explained to Crown Prince Iridian and Queen Alianor that she was to marry Prince Viridian instead. His sons would be King of Unauwen and King of Dagonaut. Alianor rode off into the woods, and Iridian followed her, thinking she was upset. Alianor was frustrated that she didn’t think of it first and encouraged Iridian to have fun with her while they still could.
Slupor the Sorceror
Tiuri and Lavinia found passage on a ship to Unauwen, though the captain distrusted Tiuri for his Eviellan blood. Slupor the Sorceror, claiming to be a disciple of Eviellan magic, entertained the passengers of the ship with his magic. Tiuri was able to open the device holding the letter during the show. As Red Riders boarded the ship looking for Tiuri, Slupor helped him escape, though Jaro retrieved the letter. Tiuri was hurt, so Slupor took him to a place of healing. Instead, he tried to take Tiuri’s powers by burning him. His magic saved him, and Tiuri conjured a fire dragon that killed Slupor.
