In the previous episode of the CW’s Charmed, Parker asked Maggie to marry him, and Abigael lied about stealing the Sacred Grove apples for Godric. In Charmed Season 2 Episode 8, Maggie considered Parker’s proposal to force peace between witches and demons, but Mel didn’t trust Parker.
Power Partnership
When Parker proposed, Maggie refused. She was only twenty and a Charmed One, and Parker was the Overlord. Maggie stormed out through a portal and into the command center, where Harry was healing Layla. She and a group of witches had decided to patrol the magical communities to protect them, but demons attacked and kidnapped her fellow witches. Maggie decided to marry Parker since she believed their union would stop the demon attacks on witches and magical creatures. The Oath in demon tradition required enforceable peace to be forged between family members.
When Maggie returned to Parker, she asked him to release the witches.
Metamorphosis
Mel didn’t trust Parker, so they found a spell in the Book of Elders to turn her into a fly to spy on him. They realized that it was a curse, not a spell, and the only way for her to change back was self-reflection. In Parker’s office, Godric brought him the apples and confessed that he, and not Abigael, had attacked the Sacred Grove. Godric swatted Mel to the floor, and her self-reflection was acceptance of her situation. She changed back and told Maggie. Unfortunately, it upset Maggie to learn that Mel didn’t trust her judgement. Maggie told her to leave.
Parker did eat a Sacred Grove apple, and more than one caused him to be manic and power hungry. Maggie called off the wedding, but he wanted to force her to marry him. She signaled to Macy and Harry, who set off the emergency sprinklers, and they made it back to the command center.
The Curse
While in the command center, Mel discovered a root containing dark amber, like Jordan’s ring. They believed the tree that was the source of their power could be there. The amber helped Maggie see more of the premonition about Jordan. It was Parker that would kill him. He had used his powers to read Maggie’s mind and learn about SafeSpace and Jordan. They went to stop him, and Mel’s powers widened to the ability to literally freeze. It was Abigael, who stabbed Parker with a magical dagger. Because the apples made him immune to magic, Harry couldn’t heal him
The New Overlord
Abigael had plotted with Godric to drive Maggie to kill Parker to strengthen the divide between witches and demons. Though the sisters believed that Parker had died, Abigael secretly saved him and kept him alive. The demon world believed the Charmed Ones had killed Parker, and Abigael used it to ascend as the new Overlord.
Throughout the episode, Macy denied having feelings for Harry, though she was intrigued with his darklighter. However, it hurt her to find Harry and Abigael kissing in the command center.
