In the previous episode of HBO’s Watchmen, FBI agent Laurie Blake arrived in Tulsa to investigate Judd Crawford’s death. In Watchmen Season 1 Episode 4, we met trillionaire Lady Trieu, who’s building a clock as the first wonder of a new world.
Break-In
While Angela was cleaning all trace of Will from her bakery, including dismantling his wheelchair, she received an automated call from the Greenwood Cultural Center. She broke in and viewed her family tree, where Will’s DNA sample had added more information. She learned of her great grandparents and their deaths during the Tulsa massacre. While there, she came across Laurie laughing at the SUV that fell from the sky in front of her. Angela recognized it as her car and found Will’s pills in the glove compartment.
Angela went to Looking Glass to have his ex find out what the pills were for. She also wanted him to hide the KKK hood that was in Judd’s closet. When Angela got rid of the wheelchair, a man in a silver body suit and goggles saw her and ran. He evaded her by slicking his head with oil and sliding into a sewer grate. Angela went to the station to ask her colleagues if they knew him. She discovered that Laurie had taken over Judd’s office. When Angela went to see her, Laurie explained she found fingerprints of a man named Will Reeves, who would have been over a hundred years old, in Angela’s car. She asked Angela to join her in following another lead.
Lady Trieu
We’re introduced to Lady Trieu as she approached the Clarks, a childless couple living on Oklahoma farmland. She set a timer and told them that she wanted their property. They had gone to a fertility clinic, which she owned, and were told that her eggs weren’t viable. She was able to use Mrs. Clark’s eggs to create a baby that was biologically theirs. That plus five million dollars would be used to pay for the property. Moments after signing papers to turn over their property, something from space landed on it.
Laurie took Angela and Agent Petey to the Trieu build site for a magnificent clock. Laurie believed that someone had used one of Lady Trieu’s devices to take Angela’s car and return it. Lady Trieu had her daughter, Bian, provide them with a list of names of people who could operate the flying contraptions. Lady Trieu spoke to Angela in Vietnamese about Will and the pills in her car. That night, Bian had a nightmare that felt real to her. Lady Trieu had been speaking with Will, who could stand on his own. He was working with Lady Trieu on something that would be a betrayal for Angela.
The Harvest
Adrian Veidt checked traps in a lake. He found live fetuses that he picked through and took with him. He put them in a chamber and grew them into a Mr. Phillips and a Ms. Crawford. He told them their purpose was to serve him. He had killed all his previous Mr. Phillipses and Ms. Crawfords. The newborns helped Veidt catapult the dead bodies into the sky until they disappeared.
