In the previous episode of HBO’s Euphoria, Maddy’s parents decided to press charges against Nate for choking Maddy, and Rue recognized Jules’ role in getting her sober. In Euphoria Season 1 Episode 6, Nate plotted to get the charges dropped, while Jules got drunk at the Halloween party.
Too Like the Light
Rue, Jules, Kat, Lexi, and Cassie headed to the Halloween party together. Jules got drunk, which was unlike her. Rue saw Fezco sitting by the pool and apologized to him for what she said. He told her that he never took what drug addicts said seriously. Rue insisted on apologizing, as a friend. While at the pool, Rue watched Jules jump in. She went to check on Jules, who pulled her in. They kissed underwater, but Rue got out of the pool and headed for the bathroom. Jules’s behavior was unsettling.
Lexi saw Rue leaving the house. Rue explained that she was a burden, and Lexi insisted she wasn’t. Jules refused to leave with them, so Rue stayed.
Blackmail
The incident with Maddy was affecting Nate’s family. They weren’t welcome at their regular restaurant, so Nate decided to get the charges dropped. He threatened Tyler into confessing to the police that he had choked Maddy. He also blackmailed Jules into coming forward as a witness and giving a false statement.
At the Halloween party, Nate and Maddy arrived together. Nate was dressed in prison stripes. It was their arrival that led to Jules’s drinking.
Bottle It Up
When McKay was growing up, his father pushed him to be the best at football. He taught him to bottle up his emotions and let them explode on the field. Though McKay always believed he would turn pro, reality hit in college. Everyone else was as good as him, and his chances were slim. He was no longer the best.
Cassie had gone with McKay to a Halloween-themed fraternity party. He wouldn’t let her wear her revealing Alabama costume. When they were about to have sex, the frat brothers came in to haze him. He sobbed and went into the bathroom to compose himself. When he came out, he acted indifferent and had unsatisfying sex with her.
At the high school Halloween party the next night, Cassie wore her Alabama costume. She hooked up with Daniel. Again, she wouldn’t have sex with him because she had a boyfriend. Daniel called her out on leading him on again and told her no one liked her because of her personality. McKay arrived at the party, but Lexi successfully steered him clear.
Virgin
At the party, Ethan asked Kat again why she had left. She didn’t answer and told him they wouldn’t be boyfriend and girlfriend. However, they could have sex. When Kat realized that Ethan was a virgin, she told him she didn’t sleep with virgins. Ethan went down on her but had prematurely ejaculated. He went to the bathroom to discreetly clean it up. When he came back, she was gone and ready to hook up with Daniel.
