Supergirl Season 4 Episode 21 immediately picks up where the previous episode ended, with Kara being abducted by the Secret Service and taken to a hotel in Washington D.C. Kara insists that she has rights and that they can’t just kidnap a journalist, but they are under orders to keep her until the president tells them to release her. Red Daughter enters with kryptonite, neutralizing Kara’s abilities. Red Daughter has orders to kill Kara, but before she does, she wants Kara to admit to being in the wrong when she props up the systemic corruption in America. Kara’s experience with kryptonite outweighs Red Daughter’s, allowing Kara to escape her weakened foe.
Reconnaissance
After everyone at the DEO is brought up to speed on the connections between the missing aliens that Lex has been experimenting on, Red Daughter, the plan for Kaznia to invade the U.S., and between Lockwood and Lex, the team members approach the problem from different angles. Lena poisons Lilian and tells her that she has 24 hours to come up with a way to extract the Harun-El from Lockwood if she wants the antidote. Lena then confronts Lockwood about his connection to Lex, but Lockwood is shocked by the allegation. His body deteriorating due to the serum, Lockwood speeds off to the safe house to confront Otis, with Lena and James following.
Lockwood confronts Otis, who says that this whole thing, including the losses that Lockwood has suffered, are in the name of money and power/world domination. Now that Lockwood knows the truth, Otis tries to kill him. James intervenes in the fight between Lockwood and Otis, but the Harun-El in James incapacitates him. With Lockwood on the loose, Lena rushes James to Lilian, who says that James doesn’t need the serum extracted, he needs another dose to stabilize it. With James stable, Lena gives Lilian the antidote.
Reboot
Brainy, J’onn, and Dreamer identify where Ameritek is taking the aliens from the DEO. Brainy tries to impersonate Lockwood to get inside, but he and Dreamer are captured while J’onn looks for a way in. Brainy is tortured while he begs for the guards not to hurt Dreamer, who he loves but has been unable to tell that he loves her. One of the guards his Brainy in the face with the stock of his rifle, rebooting Brainy so that he is more in line with his ancestral memory. The cold, emotionless Brainy frees himself, then uses Dreamer and J’onn as prisoners to send through the teleporter with the other aliens so that Brainy can find out where they are being taken, mathematically calculating that as their best strategy for victory.
Remember
Kara tells J’onn that Lex and Red Daughter know that she is Supergirl. If Lex is trying to kill her, then that puts Alex in danger. She wants to tell Alex that she is Supergirl, but J’onn says doing so could drive Alex insane. Alex’s best bet is to remember for herself. Supergirl goes to Alex at the DEO and the two of them plus Haley are able to determine that Lex is using the aliens as a battery to power a Project Claymore-like weapon in his power suit. When they discover where Red Daughter has been staying in National City, Supergirl and Alex find an apartment that is much similar to Kara’s. Alex thinks that Red Daughter is stalking Kara and is worried that she won’t be able to protect her sister.
Eliza calls Alex and mentions that Kara is home. Supergirl flies off to confront Red Daughter, while Alex rides to their childhood home on her motorcycle. Supergirl battles Red Daughter, but Red Daughter is evolved and defeats Kara. Alex arrives as Kara’s heart stops and Red Daughter is called away. Alex remembers that Kara is Supergirl and pleads with her not to die. Alex says that sunlight is in everything and begs Supergirl to absorb the sunlight from the plants around them, which she does, resurrecting Supergirl.
