Doom Patrol Episode 7 begins with Vic waking the team for a meeting regarding the search for the Chief. When the team members are late, Vic takes time to check out his online dating profile, finding a bunch of messages he never knew about. Silas had disabled the notifications, so Vic could focus on being a hero. Going through the various messages, Vic finds that most are just interested in him as Cyborg, the hero. The oddity. Vic is brought out of his moping when Cliff charges at him, screaming, out of his mind. Vic blasts Cliff with his repaired arm cannon.
Rita
Rita is trying to pull herself together when Vic knocks at her door. In a flashback, we learn that Rita is her stage name from a young age. Rita struggles to pull herself together because she doesn’t like who Rita Farr is, but without that persona, she has no idea who she is or what’s left of herself.
Larry
Larry suggests to the spirit that the two of them take the day off and sleep in. They could both use the rest. Instead, the spirit leaves Larry, where Larry enters a memory of his last night in the back of a truck with his lover John. Larry knows that this fantasy is manufactured by the spirit for Larry, but the spirit got a lot of the details wrong. So, they try again. The details are correct, but Larry misses the big picture, raging at the spirit instead of just being in the happy moment with John. Finally, the spirit breaks through to Larry that he needs to just be in the moment and enjoy the sunset. The spirit moves to the parlor, where Cliff is trashing the bookshelves.
Jane
Jane paints a portrait of the Chief, but Hammerhead defaces and destroys it. Jane goes to the Chief’s office to watch the 64 video tapes of her different personalities, but Hammerhead gets upset and destroys those, too, no matter how much Jane protests or tries to pull her away. Horrified at what Hammerhead has done, Janes arrives in the parlor at the same time as Larry’s negative spirit, to find Cliff trashing the room.
Cliff
Cliff stares at the photo of Clara and Bump on her social media page. Frustrated, Cliff steals the bus and drives to Bump’s house to confront his former friend for stealing Clara away from him. Bump gives it back to Cliff, saying that he didn’t want to raise a kid, thereby ruining his bachelor game, but Clara didn’t have anyone else. Cliff attacks Bump, who blasts Cliff with Vic’s arm cannon. Even as Cliff continues his tantrum, reality starts to blend into Cliff’s fantasy. He is not at Bump’s house, but at the manor, hallucinating.
Cliff is calmed and suggests the team sit and hash out their issues in an impromptu therapy session. He, Rita, Larry, and Vic lay out their fears and insecurities that Nobody has thrown in their faces. Hammerhead refuses to go along, and storms out after an argument with Cliff. Cliff’s hallucinations begin once more because…
Admiral Whiskers
…in the series pilot, a mother field mouse is ran over by the team’s bus on its way into town, right in front of its offspring. Nobody speaks to the mouse, ordering it to take its revenge on the monster who killed its mother. This morning, before Vic made his rounds, the mouse crawled inside of Cliff–the bus driver–and has been messing with his mind, forcing the hallucinations that have driven Cliff mad.
