The Punisher season 2 episode 10 opens with Frank and Billy going through some sort of hazing type of drill, where they work their way through a crowd of soldiers taking whatever beating they are given until they are able to get through the line. Both tough their way through it, with Billy cheap-shotting Frank at the end before embracing.
Are We Friends?
Dumont plies information out of Madani, using wine, friendship, and her psychologist’s training. Dumont pretends to be helping Madani, but is in reality learning more from Madani about what makes Frank tick. Dumont suggests that Frank and Billy are the same, but Madani says that Frank has a code. He helps women and children. If Frank had done what Billy has done, he’d be in a living hell.
Madani and Billy use that information to set up a trap for Frank.
Setting the Trap
Frank and Curtis stake out the warehouse that Billy and his gang have made into their headquarters. Frank says that there’s no one he’d rather have with him that Curt. While guys like Frank and Billy were learning to kill people, Curt was learning to heal. Curt suggests that there is one other person–Billy. Frank and Billy were cut from the same cloth, only Frank cares about other people. Billy doesn’t. Billy’s crazy, Frank beats himself up for not seeing it and stopping Billy. Curt says Frank couldn’t have stopped Billy from being himself.
That evening, the girls arrive for another party. Curt keeps his spot atop a building with a sniper rifle, while Frank goes to infiltrate the hideout and take out Billy, trying not to harm as many of the guys who have flocked to Billy’s side just because they felt the need to be a part of something again. Billy waits until Frank is there, then sends the girls home without a party. Billy gathers his guys and says that Frank has killed three of them because he thinks that he’s better than them. It’s time to show Frank that he isn’t.
Losing My Religion
Pilgrim returns to his hotel room, bloody, drinking, and doing cocaine. He killed all the men at the bar. He’s lost his way. When the party next door gets loud, Pilgrim goes over and runs the patron out of the room, having the girls to himself. That night, right before he blacks out, Pilgrim has a vision of his wife Rebecca. He tells her that he is a bad man. She says to hurry up and finish the job and return home to her.
Springing the Trap
Once Frank has made it past the guard in the yard and set off the explosive distraction, he heads down into the tunnels beneath the warehouse. Billy’s guys kill the lights, leaving Frank in the dark. Using a spotlight/strobe light effect, the guys strike at Frank, then get out of the way before he can fight back, in a twisted reflection of the hazing ritual that opened the show. Billy’s guys get Frank on the ground. Billy tells Frank that he’s going to suffer the rest of his life, then walks away after giving his guys the orders to finish Frank.
Frank gets up fighting and kills Billy’s men. Frank follows Billy through the warehouse, opening fire on the offices from below. Frank climbs the steps and enters the office to find three dead women in the office, apparently the victims of his crossfire. Haunted by what he’s done, Frank is arrested by the NYPD.
