In the previous episode of NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake, Amy, and Captain Holt came back to the whole precinct working on the same floor, thanks to Commissioner Kelly. In Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 episode 2, the effects of everyone crammed together take their toll, and we catch a glimpse of Hitchcock and Scully in the 80s.
What Happened?
Back in 1986, Hitchcock and Scully were handsome heroes of the NYPD. While working in organized crime, they arrested Gio Costa for running cocaine. A criminal informant had set up the sting. Holt heard that Internal Affairs was investigating Hitchcock and Scully for stealing money that was evidence.
Fortunately, Jake and Boyle were on the case. Hitchcock and Scully showed them their weird van and trapped them inside. However, Jake and Boyle easily got out and found them at their favorite Wing Slut location. The manager was Marissa Costa, Gio’s former wife and the criminal informant. However, IA wasn’t investigating Hitchcock and Scully. Gio had gotten out of prison and used the investigation to find Marissa.
Gina Linetti Spagetti Confetti
Gina was coaching Captain Holt for a TV appearance. He would be talking about how he disagreed with Kelly’s policies. The Commissioner arrived and was all smiles, which made Holt uncomfortable. When he confronted Kelly about IA investigating Hitchcock and Scully, he revealed they weren’t, but thought it was a good idea. Holt and the Nine-Nine rescued Jake, Boyle, Hitchcock, Scully, and Marissa instead of going on TV. However, the investigation into the past case uncovered that Hitchcock and Scully stole the money, though they gave it to Marissa. Despite the good intentions, they received desk duty for a year as punishment.
Upstairs/Downstairs
Rosa and Terry were stereotyping the “downstairs people” as being messy and inconsiderate. They accused them of leaving the microwave dirty. When they confronted Amy, their sergeant, she defended them and took offense to their stereotyping. Rosa got the widow of the former detective who originally donated the microwave to give the upstairs people exclusive rights. For revenge, Amy organized a takeover of the microwave, and her subordinates microwaved a whole fish. Unfortunately, the microwave blew up. Captain Holt made them realize how petty they were being when they were really at war with Commissioner Kelly.
