In the previous episode of Netflix’s Sex Education, Otis agreed to provide sex therapy to students at their high school in partnership with Maeve. In Sex Education season 1 episode 2, Eric suggested providing “free samples” to drum up business.
Sex Pretzels
Olivia would be Otis’ first official client. She had vomited while performing oral sex on her boyfriend. Despite good advice from Jean, the session didn’t go well. She and Otis talked in separate bathroom stalls, confessional style, and Otis spoke awkwardly to her. Otis did not have a reputation yet for good sex advice. Since Jean usually got her clients through word-of-mouth, Maeve took Eric’s “free sample” suggestion and invited them to Aimee’s party that night.
At the party, Otis struggled to get people to take him seriously. He tried to regroup in the bathroom. However, Kate was getting drunk in the bathtub. She had hurt her neck, and her boyfriend, Sam, broke his arm, while they were having sex. Right then, Sam came in looking for Kate. Kate wanted to have sex with the lights off because of self-esteem issues, and Sam wanted the lights on for visual stimulation. Otis led an exercise with them to help dress these issues, and it worked. The next day at school, students approached Otis with their own sex-related issues, and he and Maeve were in business.
Monochrome
Eric was excited and optimistic about the party. He dressed in an all-orange outfit, but while wrestling with Otis over being early, he sat in some mud.
Maeve tasked Eric with talking to Anwar, Olivia’s friend and the other out gay kid in school. She’d heard he had anus hang-ups. Eric got drunk and proposed to teach Olivia how to perform fellatio on a banana, and Anwar filmed it. At school, everyone received a gif of the incident. On top of that, Maeve and Otis couldn’t find a role for him in their business.
Idiot
Maeve lived in a trailer park, and bills and rent were piling up. During a visit from the landlord, she vomited. Maeve bought a pregnancy test and took it at the party. Her exclamation of “Idiot!” indicated it was positive. Maeve hooked up with Jackson again, and Otis walked in at the end. Jackson asked her on a date, but she declined and told him to ask her again in a week.
Not Invited
Adam heard about Aimee’s party but wasn’t invited. While trying to climb the gate, he fell on Jean’s car. Jean was there to check on Otis by bringing him his inhaler. Jean suggested that Adam needed clarity for closure, but he shouldn’t go in if Aimee didn’t want him there. He climbed the gate anyway, so Aimee brought everyone inside and locked him out. Adam entered the party through a window, and he saw Aimee flirting with his best friend. They fought, and Adam smashed her grandmother’s urn over his friend’s head.
At school, Adam’s father called him to the office and threatened him with military school after Aimee’s parents complained.
