“Where is Alexis?” is an episode of On the Case With Paula Zahn that will air on ID on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET. It will revolve around the disappearance and death of 24-year-old Alexis Gabe.
Alexis Gabe was last seen on January 26, 2022, inside her home in Antioch. After she was reported missing, Alexis’ car was found in Oakley, unlocked with the keys inside the vehicle. The police examined surveillance footage, which revealed that a man had exited Alexis’ car shortly after she disappeared. They then released the footage for leads on the man’s identity and announced a $10,000 reward for anyone with relevant information, CBS News reported.
On June 2, 2022, CBS News reported that Alexis Gabe’s ex-boyfriend, who was a suspect in the case, was fatally shot and killed by the police in a Seattle suburb. The police reportedly attempted to serve Marshall Jones with an arrest warrant before they shot him outside an apartment complex in Kent. According to the Seattle police, Jones charged at the officers with a knife. That led to the US Marshal opening fire and killing him at the scene.
Marshall Jones allegedly told the police that Alexis Gabe was with him at his home until 9 p.m. on the night she went missing. He said she then drove off in her car, a blue Infinity coupe. Authorities then wiretapped Jones’ phone officially. They also considered DNA evidence to charge him with Alexis Gabe’s murder, although her remains were not found by then. At the time of his death, the police had not established a determined motive for Alexis’ murder.
Was Alexis Gabe’s murder ever solved?
People Magazine reported in November 2022 that authorities had discovered the partial remains of Alexis Gabe. The Oakley Police Department confirmed her identity through dental records. They then announced that a resident of Plymouth, California, had found the remains. Considering the condition that the remains were found in, authorities predicted that they would not be able to fully recover her body, NBC Bay Area reported.
As per another report by CBS News, in July 2022, Alexis Gabe’s family received a note with handwritten directions. They assumed that the killer sent the directions, and believed that the directions led to her remains. Moreover, shortly after Jones was killed by the police, a friend of his reported to authorities that Jones had once discussed spots to dispose of a body with him. He reportedly didn’t take the discussion very seriously.
After examining the handwritten directions, police also claimed to confirm that Marshall Jones had visited that place. He reportedly turned off his phone and used the map to get there. However, he had to turn it back on when he got lost. This allowed authorities to track down his location. A handwriting comparison also reportedly suggested that Jones had written the directions.
The police claimed that they didn’t believe Alexis Gabe left Jones’ house alive. On the other hand, her family had asserted that they would never be able to feel closure with so many unanswered questions. They also said that they will continue looking and attempting to find all of her remains, as per another report by NBC Bay Area.
