39-year-old Michael Zammitti Jr was the President of Allstate Concrete, and Chester Roberts, 51, worked as a part-time handyman and driver. The two were found dead in the Wakefield office of the company. Investigations revealed that the culprit, Sean Fitzpatrick, had been having an affair with Zammitti’s wife, Michelle Zammitti. To pursue this relationship, Fitzpatrick shot Zammitti with a 16-gauge shotgun on March 13, 2006. Chester Roberts was the only eyewitness of the crime. He had walked into the premises at the wrong time, which compelled Fitzpatrick to shoot him as well.
Before the homicide, Michelle Zammitti had reportedly called off the relationship and ended things with Sean Fitzpatrick in March 2006. During the trial, Fitzpatrick claimed he was asleep at his house in Freedom, N. H., when the crime took place at the cement company in Wakefield. Before the killing, he allegedly lied to Michelle and several other friends that he was going to get back with an old girlfriend, Fosters Daily Democrat wrote.
Fitzpatrick lied to prevent Michael Zammitti Jr’s mother from becoming suspicious of the affair. He repeatedly told the court that he and Michelle were in love. On the other hand, Michelle had told him multiple times that she would not leave her husband.
When was Sean Fitzpatrick convicted of Michael Zammitti Jr’s murder?
On February 19, 2009, the court found Sean Fitzpatrick guilty of two counts of first-degree murder. Following that, the Zammittis were attending marriage counseling sessions, and their relationship had also begun to improve. Sean, however, continued to pressure her to leave her husband.
