An episode of Evil Lives here on ID, “She Hid the Knife in a Toybox”, revolves around the murders of two children by their mother Brandi Worley who confessed to her crimes over a 911 call while her husband Jason Worley was asleep in the basement. The episode will be aired on ID on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET.
Jason Worley filed for a divorce from Brandi Worley, in November 2016. This was only hours before Brandi fatally stabbed their two children, 7-year-old Tyler Worley and 3-year-old Charlee Worley. She then stabbed herself in the neck and called 911 at around 4:30 a.m. on November 17, 2016, to confess that she had stabbed her children and herself to keep her husband from taking the kids away, CBS News reported.
Brandi also claimed on the call that her mother was on the way to the house. She also said that her husband Jason Worley was asleep in the basement. He woke up to the noise of Brandi’s mother screaming and found his children dead. When authorities arrived, Brandi Worley was rushed to the hospital to receive treatment for the neck stabs and was hospitalized before she was arrested at the Montgomery County Jail in Crawfordsville, Casteel, AP News reported.
She pleaded not guilty immediately after the crime and was expected to avoid conviction based on the reason of insanity. However, in January 2018, Brandi Worley pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and was sentenced to 120 years in prison. 65 years for the first murder and 55 years for the other. She had already spent 476 days in jail. That meant that those days would be subtracted from her term, Fox 59 reported.
Where is Jason Worley now?
Jason Worley reportedly took to social media to express his remorse over not being able to protect his children from Brandi. According to the Mirror, he had caught Brandi cheating on him multiple times before. He had stayed in the marriage only for his children. It is also believed that Jason had posted on Reddit, before the incident that his wife had cheated on him and he was confused about what to do.
The couple had been married for eight years. The children were murdered at their Darlington home on November 17, 2016. This was after Jason asked Brandi for a divorce on November 16, 2016. He was reportedly present at the sentencing when the court gave Brandi a prison term of 120 years. He was 30 years old at the time of the murders. Jason Worley reportedly described his experience of going back into the Darlington house and rushing out as he couldn’t stay there any longer. Although his exact whereabouts are still unclear, he likely moved out of their home.
