Anthony Robinson has been dubbed the Shopping Cart Killer and has been accused of two first-degree murders. He is a suspect in several more murders. Robinson allegedly met women on dating websites and invited them to hotels. He then killed them and loaded their bodies into shopping carts which he left at vacant lots. He pleaded not guilty to both the murders and is currently awaiting trial at Virginia jail.

According to the Washington Post, Monica White was 53 years old when she was looking to date in 2020. She met Anthony Robinson on a dating app, Tagged. He told her he had previously been a preschool teacher and claimed to be into art. White reportedly found him attractive and they began video chatting and calling each other regularly. He would video call her every day while he was on the Metro back from work. He told her he was cleaning the streets for the city.

Anthony Robinson told White that he was never married but had a daughter who was 5 or 6 and a son who had died at the age of 2. He reportedly didn’t reveal too much about the children’s mother. White then met Robinson for the very first time towards the end of 2020 when he visited Pennsylvania. They reportedly spent a weekend together and White introduced her son to Robinson.

Anthony Robinson visited again in February 2021 for White’s birthday. He allegedly claimed he needed to get a job to be able to afford the return trip. He then got a job at the warehouse an online pet supply store. Robinson reportedly showed White a stab wound and claimed he would kill anyone who tried to stab him again.

How many deaths has Anthony Robinson been linked to?

Anthony Robinson has been charged with two first-degree murders of 54-year-old Allene Redmon of Harrisonburg and 39-year-old Tonita Lorice Smith of Charlottesville. Both the victims were found dead on November 23, 2021, in Harrisonburg in an open lot. Robinson is also an important suspect in the murders of Stephanie Harrison, Cheyenne Brown, Skye Allen, and Sonya Champ. He has been linked to a total of six murders in Maryland, Virginia.

In December 2021, ABC News reported that authorities suspected the Shopping Cart Killer to be an active serial killer. They used video surveillance and cell phone records as evidence that led to Anthony Robinson’s arrest. Apart from the first-degree murder charges, Robinson is also charged with two felonies of concealing, transporting, or altering a dead body.

Cheyenne Brown’s last traced location on September 30, the day she disappeared was matched to the location of Robinson using cellular data. They also stayed at a motel called the Moon Inn on the same day. They reportedly met on the Plenty of Fish dating app. Robinson was linked to Sonya Champ’s murder through digital evidence which suggested that he was in the vicinity of the victim on the night of her disappearance, Fox News reported.

According to the Washington Post, Skye Allen was Robinson’s fiance on February 14, 2018, when she was found barely breathing by her mother. She died shortly after she was rushed to the hospital. The couple had been living with Allen’s mother at the time. Robinson is currently awaiting trial and has not been charged with the four other murders.
