William Suff: What Did the American Serial Killer Do?

William Suff is a notorious American serial killer who is responsible for the deaths of 13 individuals. According to Murderpedia, he worked as a government stock clerk from Riverside County. However, he liked to impersonate police officers, drive fancy cars, do community service, and also, write books. According to his neighbors, he was friendly and liked to help people.

Only a few knew that he along with his wife spent time in jail during the 1970s for beating their 2-month-old daughter to death. Furthermore, he dumped the bodies of his victims in the orange groves of Riverside County. Even though authorities discovered 13 bodies, he is suspected of killing more than 20 people. All his victims were women who were known to be sex workers.

According to Murderpedia, he would drive his car in red-light areas and murder his victims with a knife. William Suff has been the subject of several books and pop culture references. Christine Keers and Dennis St Pierre wrote a book about him in 1996, titled, The Riverside Killer. Furthermore, Prime Video showcased his story in the 2013 documentary titled, Serial Killers Defined.

What was William Suff’s nickname?

William Suff had several nicknames, however, he was best known as the Riverside Prostitute Killer. He was also known as, The Lake Elsinore Killer. He received this nickname because he operated mainly around Riverside County, a county located in South California.

For his hideous crimes, Superior Court Judge W. Charles Morgan sentenced him to death on October 26, 1995. During his trial, Morgan stated, “This is a cruel and indifferent man with a calm demeanor in court that belies evil within.”

One of his victims was Dellilah Zamora, whose body was discovered on October 30, 1991. After his sentencing, Delliah’s sister, Marcela Zamora exclaimed, “Burn in hell where you belong.”

William Suff was born on August 20, 1950, and is currently 73 years old.
