The tragic case of Lucie Blackman will perhaps haunt the Blackman family forever. On February 9, 2001, the 21-year-old’s dismembered body was discovered in a seaside cave at Miura, Kanagawa.
The killer cut her body into ten pieces and put every piece in a different bag. Furthermore, Lucy’s severed head was shaven and confined in concrete. Unfortunately, investigators could not determine the exact cause of her death as her corpse decomposed way too much. A man named Joji Obara was charged with the crime. However, he is currently a free man due to a lack of direct evidence.
In July 2023, Netflix released a documentary titled, Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case. This 1 hour 22 minute project covered this gruesome case in detail. According to IMDb, the synopsis of Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case reads, “It follows the turbulent and complex investigation into the killing of British tourist Lucie Blackman.”
With its script helmed by Shoji Takao, this documentary’s director is Hyoe Yamamoto.
