Amy Carlson: Why Did the Love Has Won Cult Founder Make Headlines After Death?

The departed Amy Carlson made headlines after her passing in 2021. She founded the cult, Love Has Won (LHW), after abandoning her family and job. Furthermore, according to CBS News, she claimed she was 18 billion years old and at some point in her life, was Jesus.

Amy Carlson died at the age of 45. Officials discovered her mummified corpse in a house near Crestone. According to CBS News, Amy’s corpse was decorated with Christmas tree lights. She was in a green sleeping bag. Furthermore, her eyeballs were removed from her eyesockets and her face had glitter makeup. Authorities said that what they saw that day, was some kind of a makeshift shrine.

According to The Guardian, officials said, “The mummified remains appeared to be set up in some type of shrine” and “have what appears to be glitter type makeup on around the eyes”

Furthermore, they searched an SUV on the property and noticed that the backseat was laid down in a position. Officials believed that it was used to transport Amy’s mummified remains. They said, “consistent with someone transporting the mummified remains.”

Carlson’s followers lovingly called her “Mother God”. After the discovery of her body, seven people were charged with abuse of the corpse. However, all of these charges were dropped.

When Amy’s body was discovered, there were two children in the home. One was a 13-year-old girl and another was a 2-year-old boy. According to the Saguache County coroner’s report, the reason for Carlson’s death was alcohol abuse, anorexia, and chronic colloidal silver ingestion.

Amy Carlson grew up in Dallas, Texas. She was a brilliant student who did very well in academics. However, as she got older, she developed an interest in bizarre topics like starships. Gradually, her interest in New Age philosophy peaked. She regularly posted on the website, Lightworkers.org.

This is the time, she met a man named Amerith WhiteEagle, online. Furthermore, WhiteEagle convinced Amy that she was divine. Soon, Amy moved to Colorado and joined forces with WhiteEagle.

It continues, “As Amy’s health declined, her followers believed her death would lead to her evacuation by UFO and salvation for humanity. Told through the eyes of Amy’s devotees and constructed from the cult’s archival footage, the three-part docuseries captures the perils of internet proselytizing and a conspiracy-driven faith.”
