One day after accusing him of rape and assault, R&B artist Cassie Ventura and rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs settled a legal case. On Friday, November 17, the duo reportedly reached an agreement. However, no further details of the agreement have been disclosed.
The pair issued a joint statement in which Cassie noted that she has decided to “amicably resolve this matter on terms that she has some level of control.” Meanwhile, Diddy wished Cassie and her family all the best in his statement.
The lawsuit alleged that Diddy “enticed Ms. Ventura into a lavish, high-paced, and drug-fueled lifestyle.” Apart from that, it also claimed that Diddy abused Cassie for many years. Let’s dive deeper into the case and get to know what was the lawsuit about.
Diddy Lawsuit: What did ex-girlfriend Cassie accuse him of and why
The complaint, filed by Cassie, alleged Diddy enticed her into a drug-fueled lifestyle and initiated a “romantic relationship” within two years of their meeting in 2005 or 2006 when Combs signed Ventura to his record label. In the lawsuit, Cassie said Combs used his power and influence during their business and sexual relationship.
In 2018, Cassie said Combs broke into her home and assaulted her after their breakup. But that’s not all, the suit also alleged Diddy forced Cassie to participate in numerous sex activities with other men. Things went so bad that Cassie had to check herself into a rehabilitation facility for having suicidal thoughts.
In a statement given to CBS News, Cassie said, “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”
However, it remains unclear whether Ventura reported any of the rape and abuse allegations to the police, according to CNN.
Diddy vehemently denied those charges and accused Cassie of blackmailing him. In a statement, Diddy noted that Cassie threatened him with writing a book about their strained relationship. He also said that the musician aimed to tarnish Diddy’s reputation.
