Gypsy Rose Blanchard: When Does She Get out of Prison?

32-year-old, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, will be released early from prison. According to TODAY, the court has granted her parole and she will be released on December 28, 2023. She was being held in Chillicothe Correctional Center in Chillicothe, Missouri. Her original release date was going to be in the year 2026.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard received a 10-year prison sentence in 2016, for her involvement in the murder of her own mother. Her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, was discovered face down in her home, in a pool of blood. The killer stabbed her 17 times and she was dead for days before she was found. The killer was none other than Gypsy’s then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. They were in a serious relationship and interacted with each other via Facebook.

What did Gypsy Rose Blanchard do?

For years, neighbors of the Blanchard family believed that Dee Dee Blanchard was the ideal mother. She used to take care of her wheelchair-bound daughter and made sure nothing bad ever happened to Gypsy Rose Blanchard. However, upon investigation, officials learned that Gypsy was never sick or needed tons of medication to survive. Furthermore, the daughter could even walk and stand normally like any other human being.

According to the Springfield News-Leader, Dee Dee Blanchard suffered from a condition known as Munchhausen syndrome by proxy. This psychological disorder involves the caretaker making someone ill on purpose or making everyone around them believe that the person is ill. They do this to get attention.

In short, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was medically enslaved by her mother. Officials furthermore learned how Gypsy and her boyfriend planned the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard. Nicholas entered their home and stabbed Dee Dee 17 times. It was initially believed that he kidnapped Gypsy. However, Gypsy and Nicholas ran away together.

The couple were soon discovered by the police.
